What’s Inside…
What does “somatic” mean?
The word “soma” is of Greek origin and means “body.”
So essentially, somatic awareness is the practice of tuning into the body's sensations and experiences. Our body communicates to us constantly: when we’re hungry, cold, nervous, and stressed. However, our body communicates to us in a variety of other ways that we may not have been taught to understand. Most of the time, we ignore our somatic cues, thus leading to suppressed emotions, weak boundaries, and self-destructive habits. Somatic awareness invites us to cultivate a non-judgmental awareness of our bodily and emotional experiences, allowing us to navigate our inner landscape with compassion and insight. We can also release tension, trauma, and emotional blockages through daily somatic awareness, fostering a sense of safety, connection, and balance.
What sets this journal apart from the others?
True self-expression and healing come from holistic, embodied states.
How often have you read books, watched videos, and completed journals that only focused on the mind?
Where was the body in all of this?
You know, the body that tells you when it’s cold, when it’s safe, when it’s hungry, when it’s nervous before a meeting or a big date.
That body.
The one that never lies.
What I love most about somatic work is that it invites us to be radically honest, authentic, and embodied.
All is welcome. Every emotion. Every thought. Every sensation.
Embodiment is the key to fluently understanding our body's cues, honoring its needs for safety and comfort, while also setting boundaries when necessary. It transforms abstract and mental concepts into lived experiences, guiding us to walk our talk and embody ideal states of being rather than just discussing them.
